(I) Objects

1. To provide tailored Chinese courses for non-Chinese speaking students that meet their learning needs and abilities.

2. To enhance the Chinese language ability of non-Chinese speaking students, so that they can adapt to the local education system and master the Chinese language.


(II) Measures

1. The school has a school-based basic curriculum for non-Chinese speaking students. By designing school-based Chinese textbooks for Junior Non-Chinese speaking students, consisting of basic courses, reading materials, literacy books, basic grammar, and vocabulary learning tables, etc., the school also teaching Cantonese pinyin in the curriculum to assist non-Chinese speaking students in learning Chinese. We aim to enhance the effectiveness of non-Chinese speaking students in learning Chinese through a diversified teaching model.

2. Mode of Support for Chinese Classes

i. Non-Chinese speaking students mainly take the school-based basic Chinese courses based on their Chinese proficiency; those with better Chinese proficiency will take the mainstream Chinese courses together with Chinese speaking students.

ii. Non-Chinese Speaking Students will be arranged according to their abilities to study in different basic Chinese classes, and those with weaker Chinese proficiency will take Chinese lessons in smaller groups.

3. Chinese after-school classes will be held to support non-Chinese speaking students in learning Chinese, including the Advanced Chinese Class, Remedial Class and Chinese Elementary Class for newly arrived non-Chinese Students.

4. The school aims to create a multicultural environment and a Chinese speaking atmosphere on campus, and to promote mutual encouragement programs through learning activities and cultural exchange activities to encourage students of different ethnicities to learn from each other.

5. Through diverse learning activities, such as e-learning, picture book learning, Cantonese Day, Chinese Day, Chinese Culture Day, and rich classroom activities, we will enhance the interests and abilities of non-Chinese speaking students in learning Chinese.

6. The school enhances the professional ability of Chinese language teachers to teach non-Chinese speaking students through multiple channels, to help students connect to the mainstream Chinese classroom as soon as possible.
