Our school is participating in “Project Lighthouse” an initiative organised by the Security Bureau. This project features well-known figures from the business and academic sectors serving as volunteer mentors. Tailored to students’ interests and talents, the project offers diverse activities to broaden their horizons and help them discover their passions, talents and aspirations. This process empowers students to define their future career paths while nurturing them to become confident, proactive, responsible, creative, and happy citizens of Hong Kong.
The activities in the program include visits to the Police Tactical Unit (PTU) passing-out parade, , the Airport Police District Station, the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy, and the “Safe Community Hub” run by the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit. These experiences provide students with a deeper understanding of various disciplined services, aiding their life planning while instilling the spirit of law-abidingness.
Additionally, students can learn more about Chinese and local culture through activities such as a cultural study tour of Sha Tau Kok, making traditional Chinese New Year food, visiting the giant pandas at Ocean Park, watching attending China Women's National Volleyball Team matches, and an exchange session with Professor Su Bingtian, the Chinese Olympic sprinter. These experiences allow students to appreciate the great China’s achievements in culture and sports, thereby strengthening their national identity. This program is particularly effective in helping non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students develop their potential, broaden their perspectives and cultivate proper values.
